How is all started
Event53 promotions came out of a dream to see quality christian bands and speakers come down to Swansea. It seemed at the time that any of the big names were stopping at the bridge and not paying the lovely people of Wales a visit. There was a real passion for christian music in South Wales but not much chance to experience it in a live capacity.
It was at the Christian Resources Exhibition in Esher in 2005 that Matthew Evans, a youth leader from a church in Swansea decided to go for it. With a little help from his brother he asked Delirious, the biggest Christian band around at the time, to come down to Swansea and play a concert. They said they would love to and after a few months of wrangling Matthew with the help of Ben Lloyd put on the first event53 event!
To start with Matthew had very little experience of putting on events and all the things that go with it, just a raw passion to break down barriers that christians have about getting together, creating unity and bringing quality christian bands and speakers that people will feel comfortable bringing friends along to. After five years with lots of highs and lows Matthew still endeavours to keep putting on events to Serve Swansea and South Wales.
